Grade 5/6 Camp to Sovereign Hill – A Golden Adventure!
What a brilliant few days our Grade 5/6 students had on their camp to Sovereign Hill, Ballarat! From Wednesday 27th to Friday 30th May, students stepped back in time to the 1850s gold rush era — and what an adventure it was!
The days were jam-packed with exciting activities. Students tried their luck gold panning, with some lucky prospectors finding real specks of gold! They watched a fascinating candle-dipping demonstration and toured the dark depths of the Red Hill Mine. The Eureka Story and Goldfields STEM sessions brought history and science to life, while the spectacular Gold Pour Demo left everyone wide-eyed.
At night, the Aura Night Show – Light Changes Everything took us on an immersive storytelling journey through light and sound. Between movies, bowling, the Confectionery Demo, and exploring the labyrinth of old-time shops and streets, there was never a dull moment.
Our students had a fantastic time learning about Australia's history in a fun, hands-on way. Everyone returned a little tired, a little dusty, but with big smiles and golden memories that will last a lifetime!
Grade 5/6 Fire Carriers
On Tuesday 27th May, we had a beautiful commissioning of our 2025 FIRE carriers (Friends Igniting Reconciliation though Education). Students in Year 5 sent letters to Mr Ryan expressing their passion for becoming a FIRE carrier. Themes of advocacy, voice, learning and role-modelling were strong. Our 2024 FIRE carriers presented the newly-commissioned their badges. We thank Mrs Brook and Michael Chisholm for facilitating the ceremony. Congratulations and well done everyone.
