F/1/2 CLASSROOM

It has been an exciting and productive time in the F/1/2 unit, where students continue to work incredibly hard across all learning areas with enthusiasm and dedication.

Our Foundation students are thriving, celebrating the joy of reading their take-home readers and taking great pride in writing not just words, but full sentences! It’s a delight to see their confidence and skills grow each day.

Grade One students are making excellent progress, particularly in their Initial Lit 1 spelling lessons. Many have achieved outstanding results in our incremental testing, showing just how well they are consolidating their learning. A number of students are also participating in MiniLit Sage, a complementary program that reinforces reading and spelling skills taught in Initial Lit. It’s wonderful to see how well these students are transferring their learning between programs and applying it successfully in the classroom.

Grade Two students are demonstrating a fantastic attitude toward learning, particularly with their focus on developing a Growth Mindset. They are embracing the challenges of new learning and recognising that feeling a little uncomfortable is part of the process of growing and stretching their thinking. They should be incredibly proud of the progress they are making in Initial Lit and across all areas of their learning.

In Mathematics, we’ve been exploring informal measurement, using everyday objects to compare and measure the length and height of various items. Students have worked collaboratively, communicating their ideas and problem-solving together. This fun and engaging unit concluded with the investigation of a fascinating theory: Are we all seven of our own feet tall? Be sure to ask your child what they discovered, you might even want to test the theory at home!

We would also like to take this opportunity to celebrate the wonderful contribution of Miss Laura during her teaching placement in the F/1/2 unit. Laura brought great passion and creativity to her teaching, particularly during our Inquiry unit on Biological Science. She helped students explore the characteristics of living and nonliving things and how animals use their environments to meet their needs. Her engaging lessons inspired the creation of amazing polar habitat models. Congratulations, Laura, you are well on your way to becoming a fantastic teacher!

We are so proud of our F/1/2 learners and keep up the great work team!
