Head of Year 9 & 10 News
Mr Bill Moloney
Congratulations to all our Level 2 students who attended the Toowoomba shopping trip! It was fantastic to spend the day with you, and judging by the popularity of the excursion, we’re already eyeing a Term 3 shopping adventure, possibly Brisbane!
How do you get a ticket to that trip? Simple: maintain your Level 2 status.
We’re heading into the most important part of the term, and now’s the time to stay focused, committed, and consistent. This point in the term can be tricky. Fatigue kicks in, assessments pile up and it’s common to see dips in engagement and behaviour. Some students thrive, while others start to wobble. But this is where real growth happens.
Year 9s:
Over the next two weeks, your goal is to take charge of your learning. Start having productive conversations with your teachers about how you’re managing your workload.
Ask questions. Plan your drafts. Break down deadlines.
These small conversations show respect for yourself, your teachers and your future. Don’t wait until the pressure is on. Get ahead.
Also, save the date! Your Rite Journey Camp is coming up: August 20–22 at Emu Gully. These three days are all about challenge, resilience and teamwork. From bridge crossings to solo camp outs, you’ll dig deep but come out stronger. It's not easy... but nothing worthwhile ever is. Get excited this is one of the most rewarding parts of your Year 9 journey.
Year 10s:
Just like the Year 9s, now is your time to lead by example. As you prepare for the senior years, these adult conversations with your teachers about deadlines, stress and priorities will set you apart. Show maturity, be proactive and stay accountable. You’re building the habits of a successful senior student one chat, one step at a time.
Final Thought for Week 6:
The road ahead might have challenges, but as we reminded Year 9 this week:
“Being great isn’t about never falling. It’s about how often you rise after you do.”
Let’s finish the term strong together!
