Head of Year 11 & 12 News
Mrs Jacinta Kruger
What a busy and exciting start to the Term it has been! Our senior students have truly embraced the opportunities this Term has presented, and I am incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, leadership and camaraderie they continue to show.
One of the Term’s highlights was the Year 12 Sleepover, which was an evening filled with laughter, connection and simple joy. From ghost stories and Chinese whispers to line tiggy and volleyball, it was a night that genuinely filled my bucket. It was heartwarming to see our students simply enjoying time together, supporting one another and creating lasting memories. The next morning, our Year 12s proudly represented the School at the Toogoolawah ANZAC Day Dawn Service, standing in quiet reflection to honour those who have served our Nation.
Looking ahead, the Year 11 Leadership Camp is just around the corner, and the countdown is officially on! Final payments for the camp are due in the coming weeks, and it’s fantastic to see so many of our Year 11 students preparing to attend. The camp, held at Emu Gully Adventure Education Centre in Helidon, is renowned for its focus on leadership, teamwork and resilience. Through challenges inspired by key moments in Australian military history – including Bridge over the River Kwai, Escape from Colditz, Tunnel Rats of Vietnam and the Kokoda Track – students will be encouraged to build character, push themselves and develop the core values of courage, perseverance, mateship and self-sacrifice.
Students who are not attending camp are reminded that they are expected to be at School, where an alternate timetable will be in place to ensure continued learning and engagement.
We are also incredibly proud to announce that seven of our Level 1 students have been selected to attend the 3rd Harvard Model United Nations Australian Conference in Sydney this week. These outstanding students will be joining schools from across the country to explore and debate global issues facing the international community.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for our students to develop their diplomatic, critical thinking and public speaking skills on a National stage, and we wish them the very best as they represent Toogoolawah SHS with pride and passion.
As always, thank you to our students, families, and staff for your continued support. I am genuinely inspired by our young people and look forward to all the exciting moments still to come this term.
