Grade Three

It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of Term 2. It has been an action-packed term full of hands-on learning, exciting discoveries, creative thinking and of course swimming!
English
In English, students have been exploring persuasive writing. We’ve focused on identifying facts and opinions and learning about the key features of persuasive letters. Through the writing process, students have crafted letters that express a point of view.
Mathematics
We have continued our Daily Maths routine, which encourages the use of mental computation strategies to solve problems. Our key focus areas have included:
Time: Understanding hours and minutes using both analogue and digital clocks
Fractions: Representing fractions in different ways
Money: Representing given amounts in a variety of combinations
Chance and Probability: Exploring how likely different outcomes are in everyday situations
Capacity: Learning how to measure and identify units of capacity
Integrated
Students have been researching flora and fauna, biomes and different animal species that make up our world. They’ve also been exploring geography and are practising identifying different continents.
Students are building their understanding of the importance of habitats for both plants and animals. This understanding helps to foster a sense of responsibility, encouraging students to think and act sustainably when interacting with the environment.
