A Time to Rest and Reconnect

"Be still, and know that I am God." – Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

As the long weekend approaches, many of us look forward to a break from our regular routines—a little extra time to breathe, slow down, and step away from the constant demands of daily life. These extended weekends are more than just calendar conveniences; they’re invitations from God to rest, reflect, and reconnect.

God designed us with limits. He knows we need rest—not just sleep, but true renewal for our minds, bodies, and souls. A long weekend can offer that space. It’s a chance to spend quality time with family and friends, to enjoy a meal together, take a walk, or simply rest. These simple moments are often where God shows up most clearly—in laughter, in love, in peace.

If we’re not careful, even our time off can become busy as it fills with to-do lists and pressure to make the most of every minute. But God calls us to a different rhythm. He reminds us that stillness is sacred.

Whether you're travelling, busy with friends and family, or simply enjoying a quiet weekend, let it be a time to recharge and give thanks.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the gift of this long weekend. Help us to slow down, to enjoy the blessings you’ve placed around us, and to find rest in your presence. May our time with family and friends reflect your love and peace. Amen.
