VCE Year 12 Economics: Port Education Excursion
As part of VCE Economics Unit 3, Area of Study 3, students from both Cranbourne and Clyde North campuses visited the Port of Melbourne Education Centre to enhance their understanding of Australia’s international transactions. The Port of Melbourne, being Australia’s largest container and general cargo port, plays a vital role in global trade—and this excursion gave students a firsthand look into that world.
Students participated in a 45-minute interactive lesson at the docks followed by a 45-minute bus tour through the port precinct, observing the real-time movement of goods and learning how exchange rates, the terms of trade, and international competitiveness impact Australia’s macroeconomic goals and living standards. Accompanied by teachers Anouska Ozaki and Julie Banda, students walked away with valuable insights into the practical workings of international trade.
VCE Year 12 Business Management: Yakult Tour
To support their learning in Unit 3, Area of Study 3: Operations Management, Year 12 Business Management students attended the Yakult Factory Tour. Delivered on different days for Cranbourne and Clyde North campuses, the tour offered a behind-the-scenes look at how Yakult applies operations management principles in a real-world production environment.
Students observed each stage of the production process—from inputs through to outputs—and gained valuable insights into Yakult’s practices around quality control, supply chain management, and corporate social responsibility. The tour helped bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry application. As a fun bonus, students also had the opportunity to sample Yakult at the end of the tour!
Cranbourne students were accompanied by Satthya Rannulu, Lindsey Cordery, George Bassett, and Anouska Ozaki. Clyde North students were supported by Danick Couty and Ehsan Islami.
VCE Year 11 Economics Excursion: Monash University Behavioural Economics
On May 7, Year 11 Economics students participated in an enriching excursion to Monash University as part of their study of Behavioural Economics (Unit 1, Area of Study 3). This full-day event was designed to deepen students' understanding through hands-on engagement with key behavioural and experimental economics concepts.
Throughout the day, students attended interactive lectures, took part in live experiments, and even designed their own experimental questions. They also had the opportunity to speak with Monash PhD candidates, gaining valuable insights into academic and career pathways in economics. The event encouraged collaboration with students from other schools and offered a real-world glimpse into the broader field of economic research.
Students were accompanied by Marc Morgan and Anouska Ozaki, who supported them in making the most of this insightful and inspiring academic experience.
Year 10 Geography Excursion
Our Year 10 Geography students recently ventured into the heart of Melbourne for an engaging and insightful field trip. Travelling by train from Cranbourne to Parliament Station, students were challenged to navigate the city independently, confidently giving directions to the iconic Melbourne Museum.
Inside the museum, students explored the rich and diverse history of Melbourne and Australia—from patterns of population growth and urban development to the deep connections between land, people, and place. Working through a detailed activity booklet, students were able to apply their classroom learning in a real-world context, strengthening their geographical inquiry skills. A standout moment of the day was the Forest Gallery—an immersive rainforest experience right in the middle of the city. Surrounded by towering trees, the hum of insects, and native animal life, students reflected on the importance of biodiversity and its role in sustaining healthy ecosystems.
It was a day of discovery, reflection, and hands-on learning, supported by teachers Kate O’Hara, Antonia Hemming, and Anouska Ozaki.
