Performing Arts Incursions

While our Year 5 and 6 students were away on camp, the Prep to Year 4 students had the delightful opportunity to participate in a Musica Viva incursion called Rhythm Works

This engaging performance introduced students to the art of creating vivid visual imagery through music. The dynamic percussion duo captivated the audience by evoking scenes such as lizards, waterfalls, road trains, and carnivals, all through the power of sound.

Throughout this high-energy show, students were introduced to a diverse array of instruments, including African djembes, marimbas, electronic loop machines, Boom whackers, and innovative wearable instruments crafted from PVC pipe.

The performers encouraged students to explore how music can represent various images and emotions, fostering creativity and imagination. Additionally, students were provided with ideas and techniques to create their own musical imagery, both in the classroom and at home.

This incursion not only enriched the students' understanding of music but also aligned with various curriculum areas, enhancing their learning experience in a fun and interactive manner.
