From the Principal's Desk

Lord, please open my eyes. Please let me see those around me who are in need of my compassion. Compel me to listen to them, to hear their needs. Give me the heart to be interested in them and show me the ways I can help. Amen.
đž Pawsitive Impact: How a Therapy Dog is Helping Our School Community
Â
We are excited to share the newest (and furriest!) member of our school communityâour therapy dog, Zack! This gentle, well-trained companion has already begun making a big difference in the lives of our students and staff.
Â
Why a Therapy Dog?Â
Therapy dogs are specially trained to provide comfort, reduce stress, and bring joy to those around them. At school, our therapy dog will play a role in supporting studentsâ mental health and emotional well-being.
Â
Benefits for Students
- Emotional Support: Spending time with a therapy dog can ease anxiety, reduce feelings of loneliness, and help students feel more at ease, especially during stressful times.
- Improved Focus: Just a few minutes with the therapy dog can help students reset emotionally and return to class more focused and ready to learn.
- Social Skills: Interacting with the therapy dog encourages empathy, responsibility, and respectful behaviour in a fun, natural way.
- Literacy Support: Some students may practice reading aloud to the dog in a calm, non-judgmental setting, which boosts their confidence and reading skills.
A Calming Presence for All
Itâs not just students who benefitâteachers and staff have noticed that having a therapy dog brings a positive energy and calming effect throughout the school.
Â
Meet Our Therapy Dog!
Hi, I'm Zack and I live with Sarah Edwards and her family. I have just finished my training to be a Therapy Dog. I am very placid and love to be with people. I love to run and sleep. My favourite thing is food...any food. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone at Resurrection School and making a difference to this community.
Â
Weâre thrilled to continue integrating our therapy dog into classroom visits, wellness activities, and individual student support. With wagging tails and warm hearts, this special friend is helping us create a more compassionate and connected school environment.
Â
All the best,
Â
Jane Dunstone
