School Council for 2023

Dear Fellow Parents, 

As you will know from a recent 'Mackellar Buzz' sent out to families, our homework policy at Mackellar has changed. This change came about in no small way due to the wonderful feedback parents gave us in a recent survey. As such, our updated approach provides for greater student choice across a range of curriculum areas which we anticipate will reduce anxiety towards homework. It allows students to use a range of thinking skills and is set up so over the years the process remains the same, whilst the complexity and challenge increases as students get older. Thank you to all who contributed. Your ongoing feedback regarding its implementation is always welcome. 

As is often the case over the holiday period, there was an enormous amount of work done over the break to keep our school looking as fresh and clean as it does. A big thank you to Colin Meaney, our facilities manager, for of his coordination and hard work over the break. As a result the Before and After School Care room was painted and had new pin-boards installed which look great.  Forty cubic metres of bark was spread in our playgrounds to ensure a soft fall for students, and our synthetic grass areas were spruced up and weeded ensuring a wonderful playing surface leading into summer.  Our wonderful friends at Mambourin continued their great work with our garden maintenance and our cleaners did a thorough spring clean of all areas. A big thank you to all involved.
