SMASH Expectations

We have seen many classes fill their marble jars. Students receive marbles in the jar when they are following the SMASH expectations in various spaces throughout the school. Classes then vote on how they would like to celebrate. We have had pyjama dress up days, dance parties and the 1/2 students writing persuasive pieces to persuade their teachers to agree to their celebration. Some ideas have included going to Wet n' Wild and going to Chadstone to buy new toys.

Social Emotional Wellbeing Survey

Throughout the next two weeks we will be conducting a social emotional survey with our students. This survey will form part of our Data Plan and will be conducted twice a year in Term One and Term Three. The survey has been adapted from the ACER Social -Emotional Wellbeing Survey. It explores Feelings and Behaviours, Internal Strengths, Social Skills, and School Engagement. The survey relies on the students' perceptions and experiences as it is self administered. The junior students will have the questions read out to them.

Once the data is received, as a staff, we will be able to assess the information to support our wellbeing programs that operate throughout the school. It will guide the staff in the sorts of wellbeing and social / emotional supports and learning that is needed within the school as well as help make decisions about the interventions we put in place, such as social skills development programs.

Please reach out if you have any further questions regarding the data or if I can support your or your child in any way callan@smashburton.catholic.edu.au
