Principal's Report

with Simone Roy

As always, tinged with some sadness; this is the final week of school for our Year 12 students, with their last day of classes being on Tuesday. The students will begin celebrating to mark the end of 13 years of schooling on Tuesday and will be waved off to begin their study period on Wednesday after the traditional morning tea with staff.

Students are more than welcome, and certainly encouraged, to continue attending their scheduled classes, as their teachers will be available in their dedicated class time until the subject exam occurs. I know everyone will be wishing the students sitting exams the best of luck in their preparations and for the exams. For the students that have chosen to not sit exams, we all wish them the best of luck as they prepare to move into the next phase of their life, after school.

This is always a bittersweet moment of the year. Having watched the development of these students over the last 6 years, growing into the confident young people they are now; having the relationship between staff and students change over that time as maturity and thinking develops; it is always sad to see these young people leave. However, our staff would want it no other way as it is time – they are ready to move onto the next stage of their lives.

Welcome Erin! But now seeking a parent representative

I would like to officially welcome Erin Angelini to the teaching team at school! Erin has taken on a Science and Maths teaching load and started the term full of energy and jumped straight in to her classes.

Well known to many students and staff alike, Erin is one of our parent representatives on the school council this year, and on behalf of the other councillors, I thank Erin for all her contributions in that time. However, now being a staff member, Erin will have to step down from her position and this will leave one parent position available. If you are interested in taking Erin’s place on the council, which goes until March 2025 (a full year left), please email me directly, simone.roy@education.vic.gov.au If we receive more than 1 self nomination, we will have to hold a vote for the position.

Student Executive Trivia Night

Thursday night saw the function room of West Peak Hotel full of eager students and staff for the Trivia Night, run by the Student Executive. There was so much laughter, fun and thinking within the room and the results remained fairly close throughout each round – it was a fantastic evening of entertainment. A full report of the evening will be later in this newsletter.

Thanks to Nicole Lodge, the Student Executive and the other assistants, who made this event happen.
