Year 5 Newsletter Article 

This term the Grade 5s have been doing lots of really good work and have been working really hard.

In Literacy we have been writing information reports. We got to pick our own topic and subtopics. There were different ways we could present our writing like in a diorama, video, documentary, rap, website and more. We all worked hard to make our writing interesting for the audience.

For Maths we have been working on using the operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We are making sure that we are challenging ourselves too. Some grades have also been working with Michael Minas and Pete who are Maths experts and have been helping us with problem solving.

For SEL and Inquiry we have been learning about the different laws in Austraila and how they are made. We also have been learning about the types of government like local, state and federal. In SEL we have been learning about health and gender. We learnt about puberty in the Sexuality Education workshops.

This term we have also had lots of special excursions and incursions. We had the police and Kids Helpline talk to us about safety and we also had the Wyndham Mayor Susan McIntyre come and talk to us about her job. Some people also got to go to Athletics Day where we competed in different events and represented our houses. Many students were able to go to the next stage of Division Athletics and represent our school against other schools.

We are really looking forward to continuing to work on our goals and for camp coming up next term!
