Yr 4 Excursion

Year 4 Excursions

The Year 4 students had a busy Term 3 with two exciting and educational excursions.

Immigration Museum

In Week 1, we went to the Immigration Museum to learn about migration and traditions of different cultures.

We investigated artefacts that are significant to Australians of varying backgrounds. Then we explored the museum galleries to learn more about migration to Australia.

Finally, we went for a walk across the nearby Sandridge Bridge. Many years ago, this bridge was used by thousands of new arrivals to walk from Station Pier to Flinders Street Station to begin their lives in Australia. Now, there is an artwork called ‘The Travellers’ that represents the journey of migrants from all over the world.

Zoo Excursion

In Week 6, we went to the Werribee Open Range Zoo. This connected to our learning in Inquiry and Writing.

We explored the preys and predators of the African Safari, and examined replicas of the skulls of African animals. On the Safari Bus, we observed the animals in their habitats and learnt about how the zoo conserves critically endangered animals.
