Assistant Principal Report - Junior School

Mrs June Sainsbery

Welcome to term four. The first couple of weeks have flown by and students have settled into the term well.  It is a busy term with the transition process well underway. Year 8 students have received their elective subject allocations for 2024 and the Year Level student managers are preparing for Rollover which will begin in five weeks.

In the meantime, there will be several assessments (CATs) that students will need to complete as they move towards the end of their 2023 subjects.  Students are advised to ensure they implement feedback they receive from their teachers in order to complete class assessments to the best of their ability. A reminder that JUMP (Junior Maths Program) runs every Tuesday 3.20 to 4.20 in the JLC (Junior Learning Centre). Students who would like extra support with their maths studies are encouraged to attend.

I would like to acknowledge our Junior students who had their artwork on display at our recent Art Show.  There is considerable talent amongst our students, and it was a delight to see their work on display.

Congratulations to our Junior School students who received the following results at the recent Southern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships:

Year 7              Kahsia Lockwood       2nd 1500m

Year 8              Riley Sullivan               1st 800m, 1st 1500m

Year 9              Archer Duke                1st 400m

Also, congratulations to the following Year 8 students who participated in the  ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) Science Competition.
