  • Female JSS Teams: BYE THIS WEEK, meet Wednesday afternoon, 1:17pm outside HOB for training. 
     
  • Male JSS Teams: Meet Wednesday afternoon, 12:40pm outside HOB.
     
  • Senior Sport: Meet Tuesday afternoons, 1.27pm in Nazareth Pavilion.

SPORT GRANT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:

WATER POLO GALA DAY

SMCC entered both a female and male team into the school competition that was held Thursday at the TAS White Rock pool. Both teams competed extremely well, and both made the Grand Final! Both teams finished 2nd.

 

Well done to all our students and thank you to Mr. Hanlon and Mr. Cahill for providing this opportunity.

SMCC  STUDENT SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • Australian Judo School Championships 2023 hosted on Friday 22nd September in Brisbane saw SMCC student, Regina Pittard awarded 5th place in the
    Under 63kg Junior Women. A great achievement and well done to Regina.
     
  • Charlotte Jonsen was selected into the QLD U17 Netball squad for a second year after her amazing performance at the U16 Queensland Nissan State Titles. Charlotte will head to Brisbane for four camps leading into the final QLD team trials. Best of luck Charlotte and continue to train hard. 
     
  • Congratulations to Adrian Leighton and Lacey Walters selected into the 2024 U16 QLD Hockeysquads. Both will train hard over the next four months leading into the February trials. Best of luck to Adrian and Lacey. 
     
  • Anisha Sandher was awarded the Gold Coast Dolphins-Cricket Far North (CFN) Scholarship and selected into the CFN Open Ladies team. Congratulation Anisha a wonderful achievement.

JUNIOR SPORT: Years 7, 8, 9 

 

JSS COMPETITION: 

  • SMCC Male Teams will take on Saint Augustine’s.
  • Male Teams Meet: Wednesday afternoon, 12:40pm outside HOB.
     
  • SMCC Female Teams have a bye and will train.
  • Female Teams Meet: Wednesday afternoon, 1:17pm outside HOB.

 

SMCC JUNIOR SPORT PROGRAM: Wednesday Afternoons 1:17pm - 2:57pm

Year 7, 8, 9 Students (not participating in the JSS Competition) have been placed into the Junior Sport Program, which provides opportunities for students to engage various sports options for Term 3 and Term 4.  

 

Junior Sport Program sport options:

  • Soccer Program (Delivered by an accredited soccer coach)
  • Hockey Program (Delivered by a performance hockey coach)
  • Netball Program (Delivered by an advanced netball coach)
  • Sports Rotations (2-week rotations) and Sports include- Ten Pin Bowling, Golf, Boxing, Gym, Outdoor fitness, Yoga, Cricket, and Volleyball.

Students participating in this program have been sent an email with all information and instructions.

SENIOR SPORT: Years 10 & 11 

SMCC SENIOR SPORT INTERHOUSE SPORTS COMPETITION: 

Year 10 and 11 Students have been placed into teams within their house groups for 

Term 4.  All students are to please meet in the Nazareth Pavilion every Tuesday at 1.27pm (Period 5.) Teams will compete against other teams for house points in the below sports:

  • Cricket
  • Basketball
  • Touch Football
  • Netball
  • Volleyball
  • Futsal

OCTOBER SPORTS CALENDAR:

 

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

No mobile phones during Sport: This includes all sport groups travelling offsite and JSS teams. Students choosing to ignore these expectations will be issued with consequences as per the SMCC Behaviour Support Plan. 

 

Organisation: 

  • Read the Notices Located on the Student Portal each school day. 
  • Please check your emails daily. 
  • Bring a water bottle, hat and wear the appropriate attire and footwear to every Sport lesson. 
  • If your sport is a fitness-based activity, you will need to bring a towel. 

 Behaviour and Engagement: 

  • Participate in the Sport/ Activity to the best of their ability.
  • Represent our college well when travelling offsite.
  • Demonstrate respectful and appreciative behaviour towards any outside provider facilitating a program along with a St Mary’s staff member.

Please note: Our Sport program involves some groups travelling offsite therefore please avoid making appointments during Tuesday and Wednesday sport.
