Sports Update

Daryl Porter, H&PE Coordinator F-12

Welcome Back to Term 4

Get ready for a long, warm, and dry summer ahead, (if forecasts are correct).

ELC to Year 2 Sports Day is on Friday 20 October

We look forward to seeing students demonstrate their skills abilities and support for one another at the Western Youth Community Centre Oval, Cowandilla. We pray for another beautiful day as there has been so much planning for this fun, community event across both campuses.

Summer Basketball Season begins

It's great to see many students (both new and experienced) embracing an active and healthy lifestyle through basketball. Along with our weekly South Australian Church Basketball Association (SACBA) teams and our Junior Development Basketball program, we will also be running fundamental clinic sessions for young, first-time participants and District Basketball pathways for those wanting to pursue higher ambitions. We have joined with the United Titans District Basketball Club to offer further pathways for students to pursue their passions and develop to their full potential.

If you have registered and accepted your child’s position in a team or program, please check your relevant ‘Stack TeamApp’ account for specific updates and schedules.

We look forward to seeing your children grow and develop in this sport, developing personal qualities, on and off the courts, that Emmaus holds in high regard.

After-School Tennis Clinics

Our after-school Head Start Sport Tennis Clinics are continuing this Term on Tuesday and Thursday nights at both campuses from 3.15 to 4pm.

During the term we plan to also hold internal competitions that allow students to put into practice the skills and tactics they have learnt in their training sessions.

If you have registered please refer to your email from Marcus Wagstaff about starting dates of sessions. Students should bring a hat and water bottles.

If you are interested in joining or having your child(ren) join Foundation to Year 9, email Marcus Wagstaff marcus@headstartsport.com.au.

New Netball Programs

We are excited to offer a Net Set Go program for the first time at Emmaus.  This program will prepare our students for the start of the 2024 Winter Season Competitions.

We are also excited to offer a tailored Netball Development Program for our Middle and Senior Students. A tailored and technical program designed to equip our older students with specific and personal skills to improve on their fitness and technical aspects of the sport.

Stay tuned for more information on both of these programs.

Explore new roles in sports

We are pleased to offer our Middle and Senior students the opportunity to explore many important, alternative sporting roles such as Team Coach, Match Official and Scorer.

Through their regular involvement they will be supported in learning and completing official courses that are recognised by the appropriate state governing sporting body to help them progress. We value these additional roles as it helps students increase their level of understanding within the sport, increase their self confidence and become role models within our growing sporting community.

If your child is interested in developing their Coaching or Officiating knowledge, please direct them to speak to either Mr Roberts or Mr Porter, and we will be happy to support them in their chosen endeavours.
