Role Descriptions

These role descriptions are to detail the roles and responsibilities of positions within the College that are available for staff to apply for annually in addition to their normal duties

Year Level Leader

Role: Year Level Leaders at Glenroy will facilitate a coordinated approach to the provision of the sub-schools Learning and Wellbeing programs. Year Level Leaders works directly with staff, the wellbeing team, and a variety of outside agencies to provide wrap-around support for students, families, and staff.

 

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following: 

Daily 

Weekly 

Termly/ Semesterly 

  • Following up with classroom referrals
  • Supporting calm and orderly walkways/ hallways and classrooms by helping students be at class on time, monitoring locker areas, lining up outside classrooms and visiting classrooms 
  • Being on duty in the Sub School office which means working through classroom referrals (reallocating to other classes), talking to students and helping to maintain a calm and orderly environment  
  • Checking and following up on uniform (includes taking off hoodies/ non-uniform and sourcing the correct uniform) 
  • Dealing with incidents which includes talking to students, getting written statements, finding camera footage, contacting parents and working out the next steps 
  • Monitoring students who need extra support (e.g. students with support plans, injuries, personal issues and more) 
  • Monitoring student behaviour (including behaviour card monitoring or checking in with students who are showing escalated behaviours)
  • Locker movement 
  • Daily conversations with teachers (either sought out by teachers or based on incidents/ events)

 

  • Attendance monitoring (with AO) and following up (includes lateness check and non-attendance without consent)
  • Suspensions (communication, documentation and follow-up) 
  • Restorative conversation and detention rostering 
  • Check-ins/ meetings with SSL and/ or AP 
  • Sub school check-ins (e.g. Monday morning, Friday afternoon or other) 
  • Setting up yard duties/ flag duties (reminding students) 
  • Personal learning and/ or Projects planning/ support 
  • Monitoring individual student and class behaviour (e.g. check-ins, parent and staff communication and documentation on Compass) 
  • Work with SSL (and sometimes Wellbeing and APs) for Tier 3 students to create support plans
  • Make referrals to student wellbeing (support for teachers to do this as well) 
  • Work with the SSL to provide support across year levels when there are absences/ leaders who are unavailable 
  • Teaching a Personal Learning class from your year level 
  • Utilising, practising and modelling whole-school initiatives e.g. SWPBS in and out of the classroom, the instructional model. 
  • Locker coordination
  • Sub school meetings 
  • Assembly planning and running 
  • Organising term awards, celebrations and excursions 
  • Year level camps
  • Reviewing report data and making plans for support and extension (and at-risk students)
  •  Work with SSL to support new enrolments (e.g. locker/ class/ supports) 
  • Scheduling parent meetings for students at risk (learning, behaviour, engagement and/ or wellbeing)
  • Create practice exam timetables (Y10, 11, 12) and seating plans (where needed) 
  • Working with the Careers leader to check/ monitor work experience timetable 
  • Transition preparation and planning (for each year level to move up) 
  • Work with SSL and AP to create Step Up timetable (10-12) 
  • Work with SSL and AP to create the EOY events timetable (7-9)
  • Working with students, teachers, parents and inclusion team to monitor students who are on IEPs (funded and Koorie students)
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

Vocational & Applied Learning Leader

Role: The Vocational and Applied Learning Leader will ensure the successful running of the VCEVM and Future Pathways Programs at Glenroy College. This role will provide wrap around support for Vocational students, incorporating student management, wellbeing support and curriculum coordination for these key programs.

 

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following: 

  • Oversee student management of students within the VCEVM
    • Role duties as noted above in Year Level Leader role description
  • Facilitate VCEVM information nights and celebrations
  • Facilitate the application process for entry into VCEVM
  • Oversee the facilitation of the Future Pathways Program (curriculum) at year 10
  • Coordination of staffing across the domain, knowing the current state of each team and assist in planning
  • Overseeing the domain curriculum and timelines, auditing and planning next steps
  • Ensure timely feedback and support is given to planning teams to develop capacity to build a GVC. 
  • Keeping track of the domain budget 
  • Plan, communicate and facilitate subject options for senior years
  • Conducting Domain meetings regularly with purpose
  • Work with appropriate ES to ensure smooth running of departments. 
  • Other duties as required by the Principal
