POR - Role Descriptions

These role descriptions are to detail the roles and responsibilities of positions within the College that are available for staff to apply for annually in addition to their normal duties

Domain Leader

Role: The Domain leader will provide a coordinated approach to develop, document and implement a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum that supports the School’s Strategic Plan.  The Leader will work with teams of staff to build capacity and support effective teacher practice.

 

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following: 

  • Coordination of staffing across the domain, knowing the current state of each team and assist in planning
  • Overseeing the domain curriculum and timelines, auditing and planning next steps
  • Ensure timely feedback and support is given to planning teams to develop capacity to build a GVC. 
  • Keeping track of the domain budget 
  • Plan, communicate and facilitate the year 7 orientation day in conjunction with APs.
  • Plan, communicate and facilitate subject options for senior years
  • Conducting Domain meetings regularly with purpose
  • Work with appropriate ES to ensure smooth running of departments. 
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

Student Leadership and Voice Leader(s)

 

Role: The Student Leadership and Voice Leader is responsible for the planning of, and fostering the development of the student leadership program. This role

  • Facilitate and manage the Student Leadership Program
  • Facilitate and develop Student Leadership days that focus on developing the leadership skills of students
  • Manage the process of appointment of student leaders
  • Consider opportunities for leadership development to ensure succession planning
  • Facilitate regular Student Leadership meetings
  • Maintain regular updates in College newsletter and social media relating to student leadership matters
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

Instrumental Music Leader

 

Role: The Instrumental Music Program Leader is responsible for organising and administering the co-curricular Music Program

  • develop and promote instrumental music to students 
  • maintain & replace instruments 
  • manage staff timetables & student roster
  • review and assess program success including feedback from students
  • provide articles about student learning in Instrumental music for Newsletter and Social Media
  • showcase work of Instrumental music students to the community
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

AEU Staff representative

Timetable / Daily Organiser

 

Role: The Daily Organiser ensures that classes are covered in the event that a teacher is absent from their class. The Timetabler works closely with the Daily Organiser to facilitate smooth operations for scheduling of classes, teachers and rooms available

 

Voula Aristidis

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following: 

  • Manage daily operations, ensuring that classes are covered in the event that a teacher is absent 
  • Organise CRTs as appropriate
  • Distribute work left for extras
  • Maintain appropriate forms in DO Office
  • Oversee Exam and Orientation schedules
  • Inform staff of outcomes from Consultative Committee applications for excursions and events
  • In consultation with the Assistant Principal/Leadership Team, develop and distribute the meeting schedule each term
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

Inclusion Mentor

 

Role: An Inclusion Mentor is a skilled teacher who is committed to supporting other teachers. A skilled teacher is not defined necessarily by years of experience, but by learner outcome success. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following: 

 

The role of the Inclusion mentor is to work with their mentee(s) and support them towards a professional goal, specifically in the work of supporting the diverse needs of inclusion students at Glenroy. The mentor may:

  • provide advice and help the mentee resolve issues they are facing
  • model different teaching strategies
  • observe the mentee and provide constructive and meaningful feedback
  • check in on the wellbeing of the mentee and provide emotional support.
  • Other duties as required by the Principal

Teacher Mentor

 

Role: A Teacher Mentor is a skilled teacher who is committed to supporting other teachers. A skilled teacher is not defined necessarily by years of experience, but by learner outcome success.

School Sports Leader

 

Role: The School Sports Leader is responsible for fostering school spirit, teamwork and a sense of achievement for all students through the provision of interschool sports

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to the following: 

  • Assist in promoting to students and staff a spirit of participation and fair play in all sporting endeavours.
  • Work with relevant staff in the selection of teams and squads for involvement in sporting competitions and other relevant sporting associations. 
  • Work with the relevant College leaders, PE staff and others to organise and co-ordinate staff, students and teams for interschool sporting competitions. 
  • Complete the necessary requirements prior to participation in sporting competitions, including risk assessments, team entry, hiring of facilities, transport and relevant administration tasks. 
  • Liaise with relevant representatives from other schools and the major sporting associations
  • Complete the relevant compliance risk assessments for activities. 
  • Ensure that success is appropriately recognised within the College and that material regarding sport is provided for publications such as the College Newsletter, College Yearbook, Assemblies and social media. 
  • Monitor the level and quality of sports equipment and ensure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with appropriate safety standards. 
  • Liaise with the Health and Physical Education Domain Leader to arrange the purchase of sporting equipment and uniforms. 
  • Ensure that appropriate records of student sport involvement are maintained. 
  • Oversee all communication within the College regarding the arrangements for sports programs. 
  • Liaise with the College Leaders to assist with the use, care and maintenance of the College sporting facilities. 
  • Ensure that the appropriate risk management and safety processes are adhered to for all sport activities. 
  • Develop and maintain the Sports budget. 
  • Support staff involved in sports coaching and develop their capacity to effectively carry out their roles.

Back on Track Supervisor

 

Role: To build a whole school afterschool program where staff can support students with their homework and learning

  • Promoting Back on Track
  • Setting up the library space
  • Using a budget to arrange snacks and materials for tutor groups
  • Inviting teachers to support students
  • Liaising with College media to promote

Data and Assessment

 

Role: To build a culture within the college where assessment is utilised to inform teaching and learning as well as reflection on the effectiveness of teaching and learning

  • Oversee and communicate assessment and reporting timelines in consultation with the Curriculum Committee
  • Develop a data management plan for the college, including how PAT, NAPLAN and other sources of student achievement data is utilised 
  • Other duties as required by the Principal
