Exciting School Project with Local Artist Brett Ashby

I am thrilled to announce an exciting new project in collaboration with the esteemed local artist, Brett Ashby, who is partnering with a local indigenous group to enhance our school's front entrance. This project includes the development of new signage and the installation of a captivating sculptural piece featuring totem poles, which will be prominently displayed at the front of the school.

This project is a collaborative effort involving our JSC Representative from each class (grades 2-6), our School Captains, Art Captains, JSC Captains, and our Indigenous students. These students will engage in a series of workshops with Mr. Ashby, playing a crucial role in the design and execution of these installations.

Students have already discussed the project, highlighting Mr. Ashby's involvement, and how the totem poles and school sign renewal near the entry area will create a meaningful gathering space.

In Workshop 1, Brett conducted a classroom talk and workshop to introduce the project. The focus was on Indigenous artwork and understanding, including activities such as hand tracing, discussing colours, and reviewing draft designs.

Workshop 2 was the time for refining the designs for the totems and signage. Brett will now seek approval from the local indigenous group before printing the designs.

The students are looking forward to the painting of the totems and the installation.

This project promises to be a meaningful and educational experience for our students, and we are excited to see the transformative impact it will have on our school's aesthetics and cultural significance.

"Meet Ella ...a Gymnastics Prodigy in the Making

Last term, I had the privilege of hearing about Ella's remarkable accomplishments in  gymnastics.

Ella's team secured an impressive 4th place overall, and she clinched a well-deserved silver medal in the Vault event.

Her extraordinary achievements signal the emergence of a future gymnastics star."
