End of the Year

We are quickly moving towards the end of the year and have entered into the exam period for our senior students, with Year 11 exams starting last Monday and Year 10 exams commencing today.. In addition to this, we have the commencement of the FastStart Program for Year 10 students going into Year 11, 2024  and Year 11 students going into Year 12, 2024 commencing Monday 27 November 2023 and concluding Wednesday 6 December 2023.  FastStart is provided to utilise the time after exams for students to commence their VCE studies and establish some important learning, study habits and momentum before the start of the next school year. It is made clear to students that there is a strong and clear learning program continuing until the very last day for students on Wednesday, 6 December 2023 at 1.00 pm.   We encourage parents/guardians/carers to talk to their children about the importance of working to the best of their ability until the end of the school year, especially as all levels still have a significant amount of assessment still to complete.

Supervised School Crossings

All of us agree that the safety of children is very important. We are concerned about students crossing the road in Manning Drive without using the supervised School Crossing.  We have heard feedback from the Crossing Supervisors concerned about the number of students crossing the road away from the Supervised Crossing. We encourage parents/guardians/carers to remind to your children about safely crossing the road. We also continue to encourage parents/guardians/carers to pick students up at an arranged and safe point away from the College in a back street to assist with traffic flow around the school at pick up time.

As the end of the year is coming fast, please see below a few key dates for your forward planning:

  • Year 11 Exams: Commenced Monday, 13 November 2023.
  • Year 10 Exams: Commenced Thursday, 16 November 2023.
  • Year 12 Valedictory Dinner:  Thursday, 16 November 2023.
  • Student Free Correction Day (No school, no students)  Friday, 24 November 2023.
  • Years 10 & 11 Awards Assembly:  10.20 am Tuesday, 5 December 2023.
  • Years 7, 8 & 9  Awards Assembly:  10.20 am Wednesday, 6 December 2023.
  • End of year Whole School Mass: 12 noon -1.00 pm Wednesday, 6 December 2023. 
  • End of Term 4, 2023:  1.00 pm 

As always we are eager to work with you for the best possible outcomes for your child. Please contact your child’s Pastoral Teacher if there are things we can do to assist, things we should be aware of or any issues.

 

In the last few weeks of the school year I am always conscious that a significant effort can lift and transform a year for students in relation to their results. In the same way a dropping of effort can bring things down from where they have been. We are encouraging all students to work well to finish to the best of their ability and desire to work in partnership with parents/guardians/carers for this. If there is anything we can do to support this for your child, please let us know.
