DEPUTY PRINCIPAL, Learning & Teaching

Dear Parents /Guardians,

As 2023 comes to a close, it was fitting to end it with the Celebration of Excellence evening on Monday night, where we celebrated our students who have achieved excellence in Academia, Sport, Music and those who have demonstrated and lived out the Mercy spirit.

I wish to congratulate all our award winners
I wish to congratulate all our award winners

This was a beautiful evening and I wish to congratulate all our award winners and their families. I also would like to thank all the staff who have worked so hard this year to challenge, support and encourage all our students to become the best version of themselves. Not all students can win an award but all students can overcome their own challenges and achieve their personal goals.

Recently the teachers have been reviewing their year, one question I ask is what was their highlight or biggest success and what was their biggest challenge. It is great to look back on our successes but more importantly to reflect on the challenges we faced, what we did to overcome these challenges and who supported us in these. It is very common to hear that overcoming a difficult challenge can be our greatest success and it is in overcoming the challenges that we grow as a person and develop as a learner.

This year the community has risen to the challenge of using our new Learning Management System, Compass. We have primarily been using it for communication, attendance, assessment, parent teacher interviews and reports. Next year, we will continue to build on this by being able to provide feedback on learning tasks, sharing lessons and their resources and monitor student progress.

I look forward to welcoming you back next year to continue our growth journey together by celebrating the successes and working together to embrace and overcome the challenges that 2024 might bring.

Have a Merry Christmas and safe holidays.

Ms Lucy Neil
