OSHC at Ivanhoe

Primary School!

30/11/2023, Week 9, Term 4.

Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary Outside School Hours Care.

Wominjeka to OSHC at Ivanhoe Primary School!

We would like to begin by acknowledging the Wurrunjeri People of the Woi Wurrung people, past, present and future.

The custodians of the Birrarung Marr (Yarra River) and the land which we know, learn and play on, as Outside School Hours Care.

The Children's' Program:

Last week before the fair the children were very excited to help out making curry puffs/samosas, mostly because they like eating them!

No, not our OSHC children, they love giving back to the community!                                             They then, even came and bought of couple of the samosas that they made!                                   Very satisfied customers.

The Fair!

That was an amazing event, I was a bit sad at the beginning of the Grand re-opening of

'The Caravan of Curry because our much loved Edwina, Wendy and Ebony couldn't make it as they were unwell. They are on the mend and wished they could be there too!

Then I realised how we were extra lucky that folks such as Parents, Friends and Junior and Senior Staff, Teaching Staff and Leadership staff  helped out too.

Thanks to our past staff, Tom F, Monica, current  staff, Sarah, Olivia, Rowena, Emily and Tom.P. Parents, Belinda, Kavita, Esha, Staff, Margret, Pam and Janet.

Pete my partner was asked to help out Marie, with the sound and production on stage, as she is recovering from an injury. Pete had loads of fun and also met some amazing musicians and made friends! The music sounded great, I could actually hear it from down at OSHC Caravan of Curry!

Pete said to say thanks to Marie and Matt and all the others too!

Thanks to Sarah and Rekha for running the kitchen and keeping all the curry lovers happy!

Both of you worked so hard and it was great to see Monica, who also used to work here, come to help out.

Oh and thanks to Wendy, Sarah, Emily and myself making 240 samosas' with the children!

The Fair was extremely fun and I'm so glad it wasn't like the extreme weather we had back in the famous 2017 fair, which was also extremely fun!

Re-enrolments for next year:

It is time to re-enrol your child/children for next year.

If you are needing outside school hours care, the start of booking dates are from the 1st February.

https://wiki.smartcentral.net/Restarting-Exited-Enrolments

Foundation/Prep start the following week after testing, on the 5th February.

Foundation information night is on the 11th of December. We already have a few applications to enrol so I've decided to start processing from today! Please don't panic, there is still plenty of places.

Policies:

Please see Alexis or Sarah to look at policy folders that can helpexplain how Outside School Hours Care is structured. We are a school/committee run OSHC, not for profit and are very proud that we are a 1 of 20 schools in Victoria to be rated Exceeding!

We hope to get all of this information up on a refreshed OSHC web-page for next year.

Sustainability:

We/I have started a small group of flower pots at the entrance of OSHC to try and stop excess water going onto the footpath. It is sort of working, any one want to come and help brainstorm some ideas with me? We need more pots and plants I think?

See you soon everyone,

Triganin!

That's all for now,

From Lexi
