Principal's Piece

Title

Many of our Secondary students are currently spending time preparing for and sitting exams. As you can imagine, for many of our students, this period of time can be tough. The general feedback from students is that there is a lot going on and that they are very much looking forward to this season coming to an end. For these students, being thankful in this season is understandably the last thing on their mind as they face the challenges of studying for and sitting these exams.

Interestingly, while it is easy to forget to look for things to be thankful about, in amongst the busyness there are things to be thankful for. When things are busy and we are 'under the pump', we all forget to look for, and find things to be thankful about. However, my encouragement to our students (as it is to you) is … even in the middle of all the messiness, learn to remind yourself of your foundation

The good news is that our foundation is in Jesus. And if we’ve built our lives on Him, then we always have something to be thankful for. Even if things seem hard or messy, we can be thankful that we know Jesus and that Jesus knows us. No matter what we are going through, Jesus is there by our side each and every step of the way. This is something we can be truly thankful for.

The Bible talks about thanking God. It tells us to thank Him continually. Many times we think that if we thank God once a week at church, we’re all set. However, this verse tells us to thank Him continually. So when you’re eating breakfast, thank Him for your food. When you go to school, thank Him for the opportunity to learn. In all things throughout the day, take moments to give God thanks.

Even if things seem hard right now, you can be thankful that you know Jesus. You have salvation in Him. Forgiveness is found in Him. No matter what you’re going through, you have a Saviour who is there by your side. That is something to be thankful for. So even when you feel alone, even when you feel mistreated, know that you’ve got roots in Jesus. Jesus is there for you, leading you, keeping you. He’s guiding you through whatever you’re facing. No matter what, you can be thankful for your roots in Jesus!

There is however a catch, and the catch with thankfulness is that to thank someone – you have got to express your thankfulness. If you just think it, the person you’re wanting to thank will never know it. You’ve got to tell them, text them, write them, message them, or use any other medium you know.

The critical part of being thankful is that, you’ve got to express your thankfulness in shape or form way. If you don’t, the person will never know that you appreciate them and what they did. Take a moment to think about what you are thankful for and them most importantly take another moment to communicate your thankfulness.

Blessings,

Mr Andrew Manning

Principal

Allwell Testing

On Monday 20 November ,Years 2, 4, and 6 will participate in Allwell Academic Testing. Year 9 students who missed their testing day in October will also be given the opportunity to catch up on their tests which includes Careers.

The testing gives a snapshot of student capabilities and strengths as well as indication of any areas in need of further support as students progress through the College. The Year 9 Careers survey helps students to identify their passions and interests and gives students a picture of themselves as they ponder career choices and their chosen pathways and careers.

Exchange Students in 2024

My Christian School Website

Bayside Christian College values the genuine faith of its staff. However, the Australian Law Reform Commission has released a consultation paper which would prevent schools like ours from choosing staff for their active lived faith.  My Christian Schools website has been launched in association with the Australian Association of Christian Schools because it's time they heard from some actual parents—like you!

If you value the contribution of Christian staff and teachers, this is your opportunity to have your voice heard. Please visit MyChristianSchool.au and send a message to your MP about the difference Christian teachers and staff make in our school.
