Guitar and Drum Soiree

Thursday 9th November was our final guitar and drum soiree for the year, featuring Andy Clarke’s guitar students, Nicholas Milosevic’s Drums students and our Junior and Senior Rock Bands, who performed “Get Him Back” and “Erase Me” respectively.

A highlight of the evening was seeing 30+ guitarists onstage playing “Act Natural” with Senior Rock Band! Another highlight was our four year 7 drummers on four individual drum kits perform with our bass guitar students, the iconic “7 Nation Army”. A special shout out to Grace McLaughlan for their guest appearance, drumming for their band’s performance and also a solo of Twenty One Pilot’s “Ode to Sleep”.

Thank you to our two year 12 students, Weijia Zhang, who opened the evening performing The Cat Empire’s “Kila” from their year 12 Music drum recital program, and to Milla Maccarone, who closed the night with their group performance of “Dani California”.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen stories created and developed into fantastic pieces of theatre around creatures such as The Loch Ness Monster, Dragons, Big Foot and Unicorns. Our topic allocated to us several weeks ago is Mermaids.

Creating a finished play from quite literally nothing was difficult. But these challenges spurred our growth and formed stronger bonds throughout the class community.

Over this term, we have worked hard with choreography, script writing, costume planning and constructions, along with music development and multi-media to create a performance we hoped our audience would enjoy.
