Due to the inclement weather this year, unfortunately we were unable to run our outdoor community arts event that is Festival On The Lawn.
What we have done instead is record and video all our performances. There is also a visual art exhibition in the ALC.
Below is where you can find the link to watch the videos.
Music Class Performances Including Foundation and Staff Song , Drama and Dance Productions.
Drama
The lead up to the Festival on the Lawn for the drama students was filled with creativity and plenty of practice.
The five drama classes, each selected a song that they would act out. Then came the fun as the students and I collaborated on creating the performances you see can watch via the links below.
I'm very proud of what they have produced.
It is also a bitter sweet time as I farewell the grade 6 drama students. It has been a real pleasure to see them develop their drama skills over the years (some since Grade 1!). They will be missed in our drama family. Raewyn MCMahon (Drama teacher)
Grade 6 Drama feedback:
Hi, I'm Abigail and I have really enjoyed my years in drama. I chose to do a drama performance to the song 9 to 5. It was really fun but it was hard to remember. It was kind of awkward but otherwise it was really fun. It was sad that we could not perform it in front of the school but we still got to record it. It was kind of relieving to not have to perform it though because it was hard to remember but I think I was getting it. I have done multiple performances over the years and they were all really fun and if you are a parent who has kids I recommend signing up your kids for drama if they want to.
There are many differences in plays and dances. Plays are fun to remember because the song might change over every paragraph. Both are really fun but can be really hard to remember depending on what it is.

Hi this is Max and Jon. This year in drama we did a great performance for a festival on the lawn but sadly it was cancelled so we had to do a recording of all stars by smash mouth. It was really fun. I really recommend doing drama. For the first two terms we do plays and then for the other two we do dances.

Visual Art Exhibition
Twice a year The TPS Music Department holds an instrumental concert for extra curricular instrumental students. These concerts are used to showcase the work students have accomplished in instrumental lessons with their instrumental teachers.
The End of year instrumental concert took place on Thursday 7th December in the gym. It was a huge success with many great performances. Congratulations to those who took part.
If you are interested in your child being a part of the thriving TPS music instrumental program in 2024, either visit TPS Music website - Instrumental page where you can find information about the program, bios on our teachers and a link to the instrumental form, or grab a form from outside the music room or the front office. I will also hand out forms at the start of next year.

I’m Aleena Khan and I am a Junior School Council representative. During the past few weeks we were invited by Sarah and Michelle as part of the Baw Baw Latrobe LLEN to join them in youth leadership workshops with Trafalgar High School student leaders.
On the 22nd of November we had our first meeting. In our first workshop experience we first started off with a game of giant rock paper scissors to get our brains ready for the next activity. After we sat down they gave us a couple of sheets of paper we had to draw our superhero. Then we wrote about a day in our superhero’s life. It was fun.
After we had finished, we got another piece of paper which had 24 different values on it. You had to choose your top five most important values. Afterwards we had to go around the room and see if other people had the same values as us. Then we had to go sit down on the table with the people who wrote down the same values. The people who we sat down with formed a new group. It was now morning tea time. Morning tea was delicious. We got popcorn, fruit and a bottle of water. We could also go outside and play.
After morning tea we got started on our next focus. This was different: we got a marshmallow, spaghetti and bluetack. Our next challenge was to make a tower out of the spaghetti but we had to have the marshmallow on top. Then we got some butcher's paper to write down issues affecting youth in our community and how we might solve it. Now it was lunch time, for lunch there was party pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches and chocolate slices.
We got back in our groups and we had to write a question and Sara and Michell asked us to go home and make a survey and ask the community. Finally it was time to walk back to school. The first workshop was great. I couldn’t wait for us to do it again.

I’m Sienna Giles and I am also a Junior School Council representative. The next time we went was on the 6th of December. First we did the giant rock paper scissors again. After that we sat at our group tables.
We looked at our previous work and added any data that we collected to our question. In our group we then came up with 100 ideas on how we could solve our problem. We narrowed it down to 3 suitable solutions. The other groups also got to write ideas on our problem. We then chose 1 idea and turned it into an advertisement. As a brain break we played a game where we got on a bus and then had to choose which side we got off depending on the question that was posed.
For example; water or fire, pizza or pasta, camping or the beach.
At the end of the day we rehearsed our advertisements and then performed them to the group. Sarah and Michelle are going to use all the information from the sessions to write a report to the Trafalgar Community using our ideas on how we can improve our community through the lens of our youth.

On Monday the 4th December, the Grade 3/4 unit started a how to catch an elf project. We had to bring materials from home to make a good elf trap. I hope to catch an elf. It has been really fun.
by L Bannister and H Fanning.
This week LA7 has been making an elf trap. First we did some planning, and drew out our design. After that we got to the building stage. We could use fabric, plastic straws and cardboard boxes and much more. That’s how we have been making our elf traps. It’s been really fun.
