Dolphin Research Institute: I Sea, I Care Program

Last Wednesday, as part of the Term 4 program I Sea, I Care, our six St Simon’s Marine Victorian Ambassadors had a big day out at Jacks Beach Reserve in Bittern.

The “I Sea, I Care” School Ambassadors Program provides leadership opportunities for six of our students in Grade 5 and Grade 6. The students selected this year were our four Environmental Leaders Annabelle Eimermacher, Rohit Khanna, Neisha Beatty and Elijah Roughan, as well as two Grade 5 students Conor Nyholm and Shanisse Mathes.

We had a great day at Jack Beach Reserve, some of the activities involved were learning about our native and pest flora and fauna in the local area from a First Nations perspective. Also we learnt about common weeds in the area as we walked along some beautiful tracks and discussed what we can do at home to prevent them from spreading.

The “i Sea, i Care” School Ambassadors Program is provided by the Dolphin Research Institute based on the shore of Western Port Bay at Hastings and we have enjoyed being part of the program this year. I would like to thank the staff involved in this wonderful initiative this year Mrs Solari, Miss Do and Miss Felsinger, it has been a pleasure working with you all.
