Year 11 Hospitality

Becoming cold drink experts

Our Year 11 Hospitality students have been deeply immersed in the realm of beverages lately. They’ve been perfecting the craft of preparing hot beverages, ensuring precision and quality with every cup. Yet, their exploration doesn’t stop there; they’ve been equally dedicated to mastering the art of crafting refreshing mocktails with modern twists.

In addition to their hands-on practice, these students are actively immersing themselves in understanding the ins and outs of the hospitality industry. They’re sourcing and absorbing information about trends and essential knowledge within this expansive field.

We commend the diligence and enthusiasm displayed by our Year 11 Hospitality cohort. Their commitment to refining their beverage-making skills and delving into the insights of the hospitality domain speaks volumes about their dedication to learning and excelling in this field.

Year 10 Food Technology

Celebrations from around the world

In our Year 10 Food Technology class, we’re diving into the world of Food for Special Occasions. This term, our culinary adventurers are crafting delightful dishes like cookies and cream fudge, Weetbix slice, grazing platters, Nasi Goreng, and rice pudding, each dish carrying its own unique flavour and significance.

Beyond the kitchen, we’re exploring the cultural roots behind these celebratory dishes. It’s not just about the taste; it’s about understanding the rich traditions and reasons behind different cultures' festivities and their connection to food. From joyous gatherings to important ceremonies, food plays a central role in various cultural celebrations around the world.

Our students are not only mastering recipes but also learning the stories and cultural significance behind these delightful dishes. It’s an enriching journey where the kitchen becomes a gateway to understanding diverse traditions and the importance of food in our celebrations.

Year 7 and 8 Technology Mandatory – Materials focus

In our Technology Mandatory classes, our Year 7 students have been soaring into creativity with

their Elastic Band Racer projects. They’ve delved into 2D design using Adobe Illustrator, coupled with 3D modelling in Tinkercad, exploring the realms of design and digital craftsmanship. To bring their visions to life, they’ve utilised the wonders of the Laser Cutter and 3D Printer, adding layers of innovation to their racers.

Meanwhile, our Year 8 cohort has embarked on an exhilarating Bottle Rocket endeavour. Their prototype designs, meticulously crafted through 3D modelling in Tinkercad, are shaping up for lift-off. The Laser Cutter has been instrumental in crafting the rocket fins, while the 3D Printer has precision-engineered the nose cones, paving the way for their rocketry exploration.
