WELLBEING &

ENGAGEMENT

We continue to ensure that Wellbeing has had a key role across  our school:

Year 9 completed the Pit Stop program.

Pit Stop is an educational and awareness program for year 9 students. The program aims to engage students in short education sessions on health and local support services. It was run as a series of stations, each involving a quick presentation with simple health promotion and information. It helps students gain education on various parts of their health and wellbeing. Stalls included: diet and healthy eating, mental health, road safety, sexual health, drugs and alcohol, oral health, legal health, active living and exercise etc.

Year 10 completed the “Sticky Things” workshop.

Kurri Youth Services presents the health promotion topic of Sexual and Reproductive health. Delivered in 1-hour workshops to classroom-sized groups of students, the presenters used a range of engaging youth-specific resources to education young people on sexual and reproductive health. The learning outcomes include: STI transmission prevention, testing and treatment, pregnancy and contraception, consent and communication. The program is delivered from a sex-positive harm-minimisation approach.

School leaders completed the Agent C workshop.

The school leaders completed a 3 week, 1 hour workshop, providing education for young people to challenge divisive and hateful conspiracy theories and fake news. They are now working on student lead ideas to challenge bullying and fake news within the schooling environment.
