PHYSICAL EDUCATION

With Production completed, we have begun our final programs for 2023. P-2 are undertaking a ninja warrior  program  for the next few weeks before finising with Junior Athletics and a Soccer program.

Grade 3-6 students for the next two weeks are completing a short fitness based program to get bodies moving before we complete the year with the Orienteering Course. Orienteering Victoria has partnered with our school PE program to develop an official Orienteering course here at Lysterfield PS/Lakesfield Reserve. Our course can now be used as an interschool sport venue.

PACIFIC CUP -Australia vs New Zealand

Last Saturday 195 members of our Lysterfield community enjoyed a night night on behalf of the Melbourne Storm RLC. As a lead Rugby League school in Victoria we are provided unique oppotunities for our students and wider community to enjoy. The latest offer was the chance to watch the Australia vs New Zealand Men's and Women's matches of the Pacific Cup at AAMI Park. It was great night with families and friends who enjoyed the best Rugby League can offer. Thanks to the school community for their support it continues to build our schools reputation and further opportunitnies when we engage with activities such this.

STATE TRACK AND FIELD- LYSTERFIELD EXCELLENCE ON SHOW

What a privilege it was to accompany our 11 athletes to the State Championships at Albert Park. Our team competed against the best athletes in the state and performed exceptionally in the biggest Track and Field event on the calendar. They competed across all manner of events and in each case, reached the state final placing them in the top 10 athletes for their event in the state. I received numerous comments form parents, teachers and athletes from other schools commending the team's performance and team first culture. Many of the schools and fellow competitors have been watching our students from earlier competitions and have made note of areas to adopt for their schools.

I'd like to thank the parents for attending and creating a supportive team atmosphere for all the students, it was truly amazing. Also, thank you to all who watched the team online via the link or posted a Padlet messge - it inspired the whole group!

We had a number of athletes earn Personal Best and New School Records. Our Relay Teams also created a bit of school history as they finished their time at Lysterfield as the 2nd (Boys) and 3rd (Girls) fastest teams ever in our school's history. An outstanding acheivement and something special everyone can be really proud of.
