What's happening in Stem?

“Ahoy Scientists!

What a busy Science Week it has been! The 3/4s have been making and wiring their own video game controllers to play their scratch creations using Makeymakeys, cardboard and aluminium foil. In 5/6 we have been designing and printing our own signature stamps to use in Art. The 1/2s have been looking deep under the earth’s crust to see what causes volcanoes to erupt, even creating their own mini volcano in class. Down in Prep, we have been investigating and testing different designs of paper aeroplane to see which can fly further.

Next week on Tuesday the 2nd, we have our Stargazing event, and if the weather is overcast, we will reschedule to Wednesday the 23rd and or Thursday 24th.

Finally, our Science competition closes this Sunday the 20th of August. Make sure you upload your 1-2minute video to the folder.

Have a lovely weekend everyone-Mr Lewis”

Learning to collect, collate, represent and explain data

This term, 1/2 students have been learning many new skills on the iPads. They have been learning how to use the app ‘Numbers’ to collect, collate, represent, and explain data. This week they’ve enjoyed collecting colour data about the traffic passing CJC.

Reptile Encounter Incursion

This week our students across the school had a special visit from Reptile Encounters. We have been learning about ecosystems, habitats, and life cycles in our Inquiry Unit. During the visit from Reptile Encounters, we learnt about various animal life cycles and got to interact with animals. Some of the amazing animals we met were a stick insect, green tree frogs, woylie, lizard, snake and a salt water crocodile. We had so much fun!

Even the teachers had a go!
