Aoife's Message

Good afternoon Holy Cross families,

Term 3 is running quickly to a close and as always we have packed many events and experiences into the last two weeks. Please see below for some upcoming events, as well as our most recent news. Also don't forget to check out our Facebook page and Instagram for photos of some of our events!

Congratulations to our children who celebrated the Sacrament of Eucharist over the past two weekends. Fr Denis and Fr Robert welcomed families, children and parishioners to each occasion. It was lovely to gather together as a community of faith.

Book Week celebrations have continued this week with our book fair taking place in the library and a special visit from illustrator Ben Wood. Thank you for your support of our Book Week Dress Up Day and of the book fair. We are very appreciative of the parent help in running the book fair. Thank you also to Zoe, our Literacy Leader for organising all of our Book Week events.

Father's Day

Thank you to all who could join us for our breakfast celebration this morning. The bbqs were busy and the smell of coffee certainly gave a welcoming vibe. Our Prep children led a prayer gathering to acknowledge all of the fathers and father figures in our lives. We hope you have a lovely day on Sunday.

Thursday 14th September - Feast of the Holy Cross

We will celebrate during the day with a whole school prayer gathering, some activities in class and a sweet treat. After school our amazing PFA team have organised a disco for our chid. More details to come!

Friday 15th September

It wouldn't be the end of Term 3 without having a Footy colours day. Children are invited to wear footy colours (Come on North supporters, Sian & I are depending on you!). Hot dogs will be available to purchase from the canteen.  More details to come next week! A reminder also that school will finish at the earlier time of 2.30pm.

Christmas Concert and Carols at Holy Cross - Save the Date!

This year we have a new opportunity to share our Christmas Concert Evening with the wider community. Webb Events will be running a Carol's event right here at Holy Cross on Saturday 2nd December. There will be market stalls, small fairground rides, food trucks and fireworks. Gold coin entry, which will be donated to a charitable cause. This will be our Christmas Concert event for 2023, all year levels will be performing on stage. Our children will have the first Carols time slot of 7pm, come along for the day, or come along later in the evening to enjoy the Christmas Concert and Carol's event.

School uniform

Children are expected to wear the appropriate school uniform each day. On days when children have sport or outdoor education classes they are asked to wear sports uniform, including black runners. On days where specialist classes are not running children are asked to wear full school uniform, including black school shoes. In Term 4 we will survey families and seek input to update our uniform policy. This will coincide with the introduction of a new sport top for 2024.

MACSSIS Surveys

All MACS schools conduct a survey each year to gain an insight into how we are travelling as a school. Children, staff and families are asked to reflect on the current school year and provide their opinions as how they feel about our school. Last year we used the data to drive our Annual Action plan. We will closely examine the data as a staff again this year and make plans for our work in 2024. The data gathered affirms good practices that we have in place and also helps us to set new targets for improvement. If you have been randomly selected to complete a survey we would really appreciate you taking the time to fill it out.

5/6 Camp - no assembly on Friday 8th

Next week our Yr 5/6 children will be on an adventure to Phillip Island. We look forward to hearing all about it on their return to school.

Co-educator appreciation week

This week was Learning Support Officer (or as we like to say: co-educator) appreciation week. We wrote notes of thanks, drew special portraits and held a morning tea to say thank you to our team who work to support our children in class each day.

National Child Protection Week (4-10 September)  'Every Child in Every Community Needs a Fair Go'

Please check out our Holy Cross Happenings page for more details around how your family can support this important work.

Wishing you all a happy and peaceful weekend. Enjoy spending time with the father figures in your lives.
