Interschool Skiing Team

This year TPS had 10 competitors across 18 events at the Vic Interschools Snowsports Championships from the 21st - 23rd August. It’s the biggest event of its kind globally with over 3000 competitors. All attendees at the opening ceremony took turns carrying the TPS sign marching to the clock tower to watch incredible fireworks display. This year the MC of the event was TPS own David Clark who got the crowd pumped up!

Unfortunately, the weather was challenging during the races, with heavy wind, rain, hail and snow. Was great to see the kids persist in such high spirits despite the tough conditions and give their very best.

Stand out results include:

Elvin Zhou - 5th DIV 5 BOYS Snowboard Alpine. This is particularly impressive as Elvin is in grade 2 and competing against Grade 3s and 4s.

Missy Mcintosh - 14th DIV 5 GIRLS Ski Cross.

20th DIV 5 GIRLS Alpine

20th DIV 5 GIRLS Moguls

A great effort from Missy as she is in grade 3 competing against Grade 4’s.

With all these results, both Elvin and Missy were invited to compete in the Australian Snowsports Competition, to be held at Mt Buller the following week, but unfortunately this event has just been cancelled due to the lack of snow.

It’s exciting to see such a huge increase in participation this year and such great results, which should only get better next year as the kids move up higher in their divisions. Congrats the 2023 TPS Snowsports team:

Kit Mcintosh

Henry Gittins

James Campbell

Felix Clark

Madeleine Gittins

Elvin Zhou

Missy Mcintosh

Lachlan Campbell

Yves Champion de Crispigney

Jack Gittins

A great effort by all and an awesome experience!!

Picture Plates

TPS is excited to help the children create their very own melamine dinner plate with their own design or drawing.

Children were drawing a special picture in class last week and we encourage you to order a plate on Qkr for $28. The 25cm melamine plates will be created and available for collection at the end of Term 4- just in time for the festive season!!

Don't miss out on this fantastic keepsake!

Manufacturing is interstate so make sure you place your order by 31st August.

Online Parent Opinion Survey

On Monday 7 August, you will receive, via email, a link to our Parent/Caregivers/Guardians survey. The annual survey is offered by the Department of Education and is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. The survey will close on Friday 8 September 2023.

Tuning into Kids Week 6 Expressions of Interest

We are looking to potentially run this 6-week program for parents in Term 4. It will be open to a small group and will be held at Toorak Primary School in the hour before pick up.

Please express your interest in the link if you would be interested in participatinghttps://forms.gle/gGujUNjwt3bdiR1VA

Would you like to learn how to:

  • Be better at talking with your child?
  • Be better at understanding your child?
  • Help your child learn to manage their emotions?
  • Help to prevent behaviour problems in your child?
  • Teach your child to deal with conflict?

Tuning in to Kids shows you how to help your child develop emotional intelligence. Children with higher emotional intelligence:

  • Have greater success with making and keeping friends.
  • Have better concentration at school.
  • Are more able to calm down when upset or angry.
  • Tend to have fewer childhood illnesses.

Emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of academic and career success than IQ!

Cake Lotto is Back!

Cake Lotto weekly tickets are available on Qkr for $2 per ticket. (Tickets close each Friday at 10 am). Winners are announced at Friday's Assembly.
