Maths - 3D objects

This past fortnight we have been exploring different types of 3D objects and measuring their volume. The students used some wooden sticks and blue tac to create 3D objects and used these to identify the faces, edges, vertices and in some cases the apex of each object.

Inquiry

Last week in Inquiry we were testing the elasticity of different balls; marbles, table tennis balls and bouncy balls. We conducted an experiment where we measured their elasticity by dropping each ball from three different heights and recorded the results. There was no surprise as to which one bounced highest across all three heights. This week we are starting our balloon powered cars!!

Grammar Grab

Each week in our Literacy time we do a 'Grammar Grab' activity. These activities reinforce important grammar that we need to remember in our writing. This past week we were looking at simple, compound and complex sentences. The students are playing a true or false game where they need to identify whether the sentence is a simple, compound or complex sentence.
