Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 3 - Week 7

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with all the children at school to discuss my upcoming journey to Spain. As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, I will be walking the renowned Camino de Santiago trail from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela.

During our discussions, I explained to the children the significance of a pilgrimage – a spiritual journey undertaken for personal growth, reflection, and a deeper connection with oneself and the world around us. I highlighted the historical and cultural importance of the Camino de Santiago, a trail that has attracted pilgrims for centuries.

I am excited to engage in this transformative experience, and I wanted to share it with our school community to encourage a sense of curiosity and exploration among the children. Through stories, photos, and updates, I hope to bring a piece of this journey back to the students, fostering their understanding of diverse cultures and the importance of seeking meaningful experiences.

I did also let the students know that although I am extremely excited of what is ahead, I am also a tad nervous as this is my first time heading overseas. It only took 42 years! I am extremely grateful for all the tips  staff and students have been providing me with in regard to how to manage the long flight, luggage tips and how not to lose my pristine condition passport ;)

Tomorrow will be my last day at school before I leave and I will return for the first day of Term Four. Thank you to Miss Marion for taking on the role of Acting Principal while I am away, and also to the Leadership team and all of the S.F.X staff for the outstanding support that they continue to provide.

Lego Corner

With the sun shining through today, the 'Lego Corner' was an extremely popular place for many students at both recess and lunchtime.

If anybody ever has any decent quality Lego that they are getting rid of - feel free to send it our way!

Father's Day Breakfast

Our annual Father's Day Breakfast is now only 8 sleeps away. This is always one of the most popular days on the school calendar and I am sure this year will be no different. Doors open at 7:30am. A big thank you to everybody who has let Miss Melissa know that they are available to help next Friday morning, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Grade 3-6 Athletics Day

The wait is nearly over and next Wednesday, our Field Athletics team finally get to make the trip to the Ballam Park Athletics Precinct. The team qualified to participate in events that were originally scheduled to take place in early Term Two, however the day was postponed due to poor weather. Events being held on the day include discus, shot put, long jump, triple jump and high jump. Best of luck to all the students who are participating and we look forward to sharing the results with our school community in the next newsletter.

Basketball Lightning Premierships

We are equally excited for out two senior basketball teams, who will tomorrow travel to the Frankston Basketball Centre to compete in the District Basketball Lightning Premierships. Miss Georgia and Miss Becc will support both our boys and girls teams who will play 11 games each over the course of the day. We hope they have a brilliant day participating against 11other local schools.

Have a great weekend everyone and I look forward to catching up with you all next term.
