Anchorage House News

Anchorage House has been a revolving door this term, as boys come flying in from school to grab a bite to eat then change out of school uniforms and into sports gear, before heading off to their chosen sport on our extremely busy bus service. One thing I have checked in with over the last fortnight with our bus drivers is the level of respect our boys have shown to them. All the bus drivers have indicated that your sons are polite and respectful when it comes to this service. It's a great strength of character to be grateful even when it becomes a norm. Our boys have had a couple of birthdays to celebrate along with winter sports wrapping up, finals commencing and trials/selections for Basketball in full swing. Our boys are always active and it's a great reflection on our staff in Anchorage who are willing to get them out and about when the Albany sunshine is out.

Year Seven to Nine Social

Wednesday 23 August

Congratulations to all the boys who got into the school spirit by dressing up for the Neon-themed Social last week.  All in all, this was a great opportunity for the students to let their hair down and have some fun with their school peers. Thanks to Mrs Victoria Turnor, Head of Secondary, for hosting the event in the Hall.

Student reflections in our House on Boarding

"I like boarding. Boarding takes me to all my sports and commitments. After school we go fishing, bike riding, cricket, football, soccer and lots of fun. Boarding is a lot of fun".

Leo Cunningham | Year Seven

"In Boarding, there are a couple of things that I really enjoy. Such as how there is so much sports equipment and if I’m not feeling like playing sports there are always couches and relaxation spaces for us. Also, I like how we always have a room that we can go to and escape from the world for as long as we want. Another thing I like is that the staff are so flexible with what we are allowed to do and let us go and do sport all the time. I love living with my mates".

Nicholas Hams | Year Seven

"In boarding at Great Southern Grammar I love that there is heaps of space and room for us to be able to go outside and play and the freedom of not being right in the city and that we have so much space because GSG is so spread out".

Tristan Harris | Year Seven

We have had three birthdays in August.  Best wishes go to Craig Wiech, Fraser King and Henry Smith.
