Mabo House News - End of Term 3
Dear Mabo Students, Staff and Caregivers
As we bid farewell to another enriching term at HP, we are pleased to share the highlights and accomplishments from the past few months. It has been an exciting period filled with academic achievements such as some of our students’ receiving scholarships, academic awards at our assembly, extracurricular excellence like the Pasifika Choir, State Schools Spectacular and the Rebels Shield Rugby Tournament. Students have engaged in community in the Mentor Intra Comp food drive and represented the college in incredible fashion by their participation in the 4Cs event. We are immensely proud of our students, teachers, and staff for their dedication and hard work.
And it is official... we have now got our very own Mabo Mascot!
The students are so excited, and we can’t wait to see who wins the house cup this year!
This term we owe a very warm thank you Mr Shinkfield for organising the House Poetry Competition. Well done to our Mabo Poetry Competition Winners Adelin, Raymond and Marriam R. These poems were chosen. Mabo came 2nd to Walton in the overall poetry competition but we had over 50 entries and were so excited to read them all and talk to our House Captains to select some winners.
It is so great to see our students being nominated for outstanding efforts in the classroom and extracurricular activities. On behalf of Mabo house, I would like to congratulate the following award winners for their hard work, these students were the top nominated in each year level:
I will be moving into a new role in Term 4 as Sports Academy Leader. This is a very exciting new opportunity for me however I am very sad to be saying goodbye to the House Leader role for Mabo. I would like to take this time to say thank you to Mrs Belgrove, Mr Musa, Ms Ashley, Ms Grove and Ms Beattie. It has been an absolute honour working with such a fantastic group of people who support our students to be the best they can be. I will miss you all greatly!
You will be in safe hands with Chris Knowles a very experienced leader here at the college and I wish the Mabo students, staff, families and carers a fantastic Term 3 holiday full of things that make you happy!
Warm Regards,
Erin Louden
