Prep Celebration Newsletter

We are thrilled to share the exciting learning journey our wonderful Prep students have embarked upon during Term 3. It has been a term full of growth, exploration, and discovery, and we couldn't be prouder of the accomplishments of our youngest learners!

Reading

In our Reading sessions, our Prep students have been immersed in the world of letters and words. They have been exposed to digraphs and have gained confidence in decoding words. Additionally, they have been working on segmenting words and recognising rhymes. It is great to see the growth our preps are making in reading at a steady pace without lengthy pauses. They are now understating the significance of full stops and pausing after them.

Writing

Our Prep students have been delving into the non-fiction genre and learning to write ‘To Instruct.’ They have been engaging in class chosen tasks such as making volcanoes, 3D cubes and fairy bread and writing out the directions following the correct layout. This genre not only enhances their language skills but also nurtures their ability to give and follow instructions effectively.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, our Prep students have been introduced to additive concepts, laying the foundation for future mathematical understanding. They are developing their ability to work with numbers, count, and understand basic addition and subtraction. This hands-on exploration fosters a love for problem-solving and mathematical thinking. A highlight was celebrating 100 days of school and exploring everything about the number 100!

Inquiry

In the digital age, our Prep students have also been introduced to basic technology skills. They've been using educational apps and interactive tools to reinforce their learning in fun and engaging ways. It's remarkable to see their comfort and confidence with technology.

Wellbeing

One of the best aspects of this term has been witnessing the growth of friendship and kindness within our Prep classrooms. Our students have been practicing important social skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and showing empathy. These skills lay the foundation for a supportive and caring school community.

Thank you, parents and guardians, for your continuous support, we're looking forward to a rewarding Term 4 filled with even more growth and learning adventures!

Celebrating a Successful Term of Learning in Specialist Classes

We are delighted to share with you the incredible achievements and hard work of our students this term in our Specialist classes. The Kismet in Story Land production was a remarkable collaboration of all Specialist classes, showcasing the diverse talents and skills of our young learners.

The production brought together the Performing Arts skills acquired in singing, acting, and stage movements, as well as the Physical Education skills developed in fine and gross motor skills through dance. Additionally, the Visual Art skills that students acquired were put to great use in creating stunning props and costumes that added a touch of magic to the show. Our Japanese Buddy scene showcased the fine work in languages and traditional folklore.

We are immensely proud of all our students for their dedication and commitment to learning in all Specialist areas. They have demonstrated great enthusiasm and a genuine passion for exploring their talents and acquiring new skills. The Kismet in Story Land production truly reflected their hard work and dedication.

As we approach the end of the term, let us celebrate the achievements of our students and acknowledge their hard work. We look forward to more exciting opportunities in the next term, where our students can continue to grow, learn, and showcase their talents in Specialist areas.

Japanese

This term in Japanese we had a whole school focus on self introductions. The Prep

students learnt how to say “Nice to meet you”, “My name is…” and “I am … years old”. On Tuesday 1st August, our school hosted Japanese students from Nagano High School, the sister school of Sunbury College. The Preps had the opportunity to introduce themselves to our visitors and showed them around their classrooms. The students also learnt a Japanese song in Japanese classes called 'Haru ga Kita' for a special buddy scene in the Kismet in Storyland whole school Production.
