Term 3 has started off smoothly, with all the 3/4 classes settling immediately back into the routines of learning and engaging in the exciting extra-curricular events being planned for the weeks ahead. So far, we have engaged in our Literacy and Numeracy lessons with specific focus on Writing information reports, reading a class novel and working through a novel study. We have revisited and refined our understanding of Multiplication and Division and are currently learning about angles and the correct language used when applying turn and direction.
A new focus for the students this term is a Digital Technology session held on Thursdays, with the assistance of a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer from Monash University. We are also upskilling the students’ technology competency through typing classes with the intention to develop touch typing confidence which will follow them through their lives.
The students have just engaged in a day long Athletics carnival with the years 3-6 cohort, where they challenged themselves in a variety of track and field events, such as the 100, 200 and 800 metre sprints, long jump, shot put and discus. The day was a success, and everyone involved was thrilled with the efforts and energy on show.
We are also exploring sustainable packaging for our Inquiry and have partnered with Monash City Council to learn more about recycling and reuseable resources to reduce waste.
Our final focus for the term is to develop student character through our wellbeing program, with a focus on effort, gratitude and kindness.
