Learning and Teaching

Reports
Student reports will be distributed on Monday 30th June. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child’s academic progress, social development, and engagement throughout the semester. We encourage all families to take the time to read through the report carefully and discuss it with their child, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for future growth.
Included with this semester's report will be a supplementary page outlining your child's progress in Mathematics according to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. This additional report presents a progression point and descriptors across a four-point scale, offering more detailed insight into your child’s development in specific areas of the Mathematics curriculum. This enhancement aims to provide clearer and more targeted information about your child’s learning and growth in Mathematics.
If you have any follow up questions, please contact your child's teacher. An SMCM staff email list was provided in last fortnight's edition of our newsletter.

The Golden 4
Congratulations Luca from Year 1 Peppercorn, Lilla from Year 5 Disciples, Rose from Year 1 Rose and Daniel from Year 5 Samaritans!
It is Luca's first time being a Golden Child. He really worked hard and showed perseverance and determination to share his knowledge in all STEM Masters. Perhaps having his older brother Johnny who had also become a Golden Child only a few weeks earlier was a real incentive.
Lilla continues to impress and was flawless in her recitation of the 118 of the Periodic Table. She also earned her Golden Child in 2023, 2024 and now again in 2025.
Rose and Daniel are siblings and they timed earning their Golden Child to perfection, both receiving it on the same day. For a second year in a row, both children have become Golden Children of the STEM Masters.
Congratulations Luca, Lilla, Rose and Daniel on such a wonderful achievement.
(To earn the title of Golden Child, students must earn masters in and be able to name facts about: The planets, rainbows, bones, the solar system, clouds, the mouth, birds, towers, lightning and thunder and all 118 elements of the Periodic Table)
A huge achievement!
