After an extended wait we have now received the fantastic range of Decathlon sporting goods as the ‘Silver’ winner in the Decathlon Playgrounds to Podiums Initiative that our school won last August. Mr Riley and our team of enthusiastic students who included Scarlett, Adria, Edward and Serena who are now in Year 7, Harris, Lewis, Imogen, Floria who are in Year 6 and Elise in Year 3, did an amazing job creating a video to show why Syndal South Primary School should win the sports equipment, encouraging students to get active and dream big for the Olympic Games planned for Brisbane 2032.
Besides this exciting delivery, I must say it is hard to believe that we are halfway through the school year. It again has been an action-packed term with lots of great learning for our students and some fantastic events, from writing celebrations, sports days, swimming, to a variety of incursions and excursions.
It was wonderful to have our school captains Lewis and Bella in my absence welcome back on Monday, Mrs Anne Wilson from the Kiwanis Club of Waverley to announce our Terrific Kids for Term 2.
A reminder that ‘Terrific’ is an acronym for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Caring.
Congratulations to all our worthy recipients:
Foundation – Ashton Tai
Year 1 – Nathan Li
Year 2 – Kiara Sarker
Year 3 – Caleb Varma
Year 4 – Binita Saparia
Year 5 – Savannah Salisbury
Year 6 – Max Zhang
Congratulations to our Aerobics Team who competed last Saturday in the FISAF Australia State Championships. All teams did a spectacular job on stage culminating in medals for all the teams. The team’s success now means that all our teams will be participating in the FISAF National Championships at the end of August on the Gold Coast. Go Syndal!!
Thank you to the Parent’s Association who organised this delicious fundraiser on Tuesday and the volunteers who worked in the Cheer Toastie Van to ensure the toasties were ready on time.
We had an amazing number of orders, students and staff enjoyed having something a little different for their lunch that day.
Thank you to the staff and parents who met on Wednesday night to discuss their child’s first semester report. This time is always a great opportunity to touch base and discuss your child’s progress, especially for those parents who cannot always get to the school regularly.
Finally, those of you going away for the holidays I wish you safe travels and for everyone else I hope you enjoy a safe and restful break. I look forward to seeing everyone returning for the start of Term 3 on Monday 21st July.
Have a great holiday break.
