Winter Appeal

Thank you to all families who have supported the St Pius X College Winter Appeal for 2025. Your generous donations will go directly to those who need it most this winter. It is a wonderful expression of our identity as a Catholic school in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice, who himself would give so generously to those who came knocking at his door, would give the very coat off his back.

May the Holy Spirit once again sing the lullaby of Bethlehem - A Prayer for Peace in the Holy Lands

As the conflict deepens in the Middle Eeast, may this prayer be a practical way for us to keep vigil in prayer for a peaceful resolution:

O God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,

Source of all peace and Creator of all nations,

We lift our hearts to You in sorrow and in hope,

Crying out for peace in the land You once made holy with Your presence.

May the Holy Spirit once again sing

the lullaby of Bethlehem -

a gentle song that cradles hearts and quiets fear.

Let it echo through broken streets, olive groves, and stony hills,

reminding us that the Prince of Peace was born among shepherds and stars.

Let Your Spirit whisper with the angels

a hymn of peace over the desert -

a melody stronger than hatred,

softer than sorrow,

yet mighty enough to still the storms of violence and revenge.

Comfort those who mourn,

protect those in danger,

and soften the hearts of leaders with wisdom and mercy.

Heal ancient wounds with the balm of Your justice,

and plant seeds of hope where despair now grows.

Holy One,

make us instruments of Your peace -

bridges between peoples,

bearers of light in shadowed lands,

and servants of reconciliation, wherever we are.

In the name of love made manifest,

Amen.

Youth Mass last Sunday

Thank you to all our students and parents who attended the Youth Mass last week. It was superb to see the growing numbers and the sense of excitement as we gathered in friendship and faith for the Feast of the Holy Trinity. It was a wonderful opportunity to present our Red Dirt and Philippine Immersion Pilgrims to the parish.

Hub of Hope Update

Students from St Pius X, Brigidine and Mercy engaged in a Biblical Micrography workshop this week as part of their session together. These micrography artworks that were created using scripture quotes filled with hope, will now adorn the walls of the home being provided to a refugee family from South America that is being sponsored by the parish.

Freedom Feast

This weekend students from St Pius X will be supporting the parish ‘Freedom Feast’ fundraiser and advocacy night in support of the family being sponsored from South America. The evening is an opportunity to celebrate the various cultures and culinary traditions present within the community, as well as an opportunity to be informed more deeply about the issues being faced by refugee families. This annual initiative left an indelible impression on our young men and we look forward to contributing this weekend.

Taize Night  - open to all

On Friday 27 June from 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm there will be a Taize evening in the Mercy College Chapel. This is an opportunity for exquisitely beautiful music, prayer, silence and contemplation. This is increasingly popular with our students and we encourage parents to come along and experience the wonder of Taize.
