Boronia Group
Term 2 2025
A new term brought new adventures and learning opportunities for the children in Boronia Group. The children have continued to get to know each other in the group through play and learning experiences and are beginning to develop peer group friendships. During our weekly sessions at kinder, we continued to play a range of transition routine games by such as the rainbow ring, number dice and matching socks before we go and wash our hands for mealtimes. Building on working together and learning, we have spent time this term exploring, investigating and discovering what happens when we mix different ingredients together. Simple science investigations, sensory play and cooking opportunities –mud kitchen play, melting ice using droppers and small jars; creating Oooblek goo (cornflour and water); salt tray play and much loved playdough creations. Using our hands and senses to create, play and learn.
This term our roleplay areas have included the post office, outer space, the pirate ship and the bakery. These areas are inspired by the children’s interests and stories from outside kinder that have been shared with the group. Through the various weekly provocations, the children develop language, communication, mathematical skills, imagination and social skills. This term we had a fun time welcoming our special visitors for Mother’s Day. A fun afternoon was had in the room celebrating and sharing with our visitors some of our favourite activities. As the seasons have changed from Autumn to Winter, we noticed how the trees in the yard have lost their leaves. Collecting and sorting the leaves, watching them tumble down as the winds blew outside. Outside in the yard, the children have continued to gain confidence in climbing and attempting the various climbing frame set-ups; balancing equipment and caterpillar boards; rope obstacles, water play and the engineering wall. We have had a lot of fun telling stories using the magnets on the boards and introducing puppets. Story time and action song time have been one of our favourite times of the kinder week. All the children have grown in their own individual way and space this term, and we are excited to watch them continue to grow and develop in their own unique ways.
