Year Four

Spotlight on Learning

Jericho Community

Dear Families,

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve just wrapped up our latest novel, Uncle X-Box by Jared Thomas — a heartfelt story about a boys connection to country and belonging. Students also presented their final draft of their Factual Recount on "British Colonisation of Australia and the Effects on First Nations Australians" and we look forward to sharing these with you via Seesaw.

Alongside our reading, we’ve been diving deep into the world of mathematics, carefully working with data and data patterns to make sure every numerical detail is spot-on.  And just as we strive for precision in numbers and storytelling, we're also committed to fostering emotional intelligence with students exploring what it means to apology meaningfully, to own our mistakes, and to grow from them in ways that resonate with students.

This blend of creativity, curiosity, and compassion has made for a fantastic week of learning and exploration.

For Week 10 - 4C and 4D on FRIDAY 27th instead of their usual spot. It will return to the usual days for Week 11 and ongoing.

Important Reminders

Every morning the students complete a 'Check in'. This is generally done between 8:45 and 8:55am.

Thanks for providing your child with fruit or vegetables for their fruit break. We all get a little peckish mid morning, so it helps with our learning.

Please ensure that your child has a bottle of water each day. They are able to refill it when needed.

As the weather is getting colder, bringing a jacket to school to help keep warm when we are outside is recommended. Please put names on all clothing items so they can be returned if they become lost.

Please continue to listen to your child read as this helps to build their fluency and accuracy skills.
