Year Two

Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

We received fabulous feedback from our Religious Education Leader, Mr Andy McDermott, about our shared Mass with the Ephesus community on Wednesday 18th June. The Damascus Community teachers especially loved how Mr Mac said it was an 'awesome display of joy'! We are blessed to have students who display consistent enthusiasm for their learning and love to share this emotion with the Parish community.

Thank you to Amira, Aidan, Davis, George and Mia for reading during our Mass with the Ephesus community.

Whilst we only have two weeks left before our July holidays, our students have shown great stamina and are continuing to give their absolute best towards their learning. This was definitely shown during our 'Capacity - Measurement' unit for Mathematics, where students have enjoyed discovering how much a container can hold. Furthermore, this unit also allowed students to show their respect and kindness. They have waited patiently to share containers, used encouraging words when students had to problem solve and cleaned up without hesitation; especially when the rice somehow made its way all across the floor!

PE CHANGE

For Week 10 2B and 2D will have sport on MONDAY 23rd June instead of their usual spot. It will return to the usual day of Friday in the final week and ongoing.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education: We will be looking at the life of St Thomas and how his teachings can be used to improve our relationship with others.

Mathematics: once again we continue learning about Measurement, specifically focusing upon length where students will choose suitable informal units to measure the length of a range of objects, and justify their choice.

English: we will be using our background knowledge about snakes, droughts and floods to help us comprehend the most important ideas within the story of 'Super Snake'. We will practise the rabbit pattern (we double the consonant after a short vowel) to help us with our spelling. We will continue to focus on using adverbs within our writing to expand our sentences.

Auslan: students will begin their End of Unit assessment.

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: students will use their understanding of problem solving for different scenarios.
