Platypus Classroom

Literacy

As part of our novel study "Leila and the Blue Fox", a text which takes place in the Arctic polar regions, students have been busy researching and drafting information reports on polar bears. They are now moving into the publishing phase, where students will experiment with creating multimodal texts that include text, visual and sound elements. We look forward to sharing them with you when they are completed!

Maths

In maths this fortnight, students have been busy exploring the inverse relationship between multiplication and division, the practice of doubling and halving, as well as targeted sprints to develop critical math skills.

Stage 2 students have been solving subtraction problems that require regrouping and using a structured method to record their work.

Stage 3 students have been focusing on developing flexible strategies to solve multiplication problems and evaluating the best strategy for the problem.
