Koala Classroom

Writing
The Koala class have been reading texts telling a story through both words and imagery, such as; The Wall in the Middle of the Book and Rosie and the Fox. Our learning has focused on prepositions (Kinder) and prepositional phrases (Yr 2). We are incorporating prepositions/prepositional phrases into our writing to make our stories more descriptive and interesting.
Phonics
Kindergarten is continuing to identify beginning, medial and final sounds in words. Our confidence in stretching words is growing and we are beginning to read familiar words without needing to stretch them - a huge achievement.
Maths
In Year 2, students are delving into trading with a focus on number and place value, which is crucial for developing a strong mathematical foundation. This hands-on approach allows students to grasp the principles of place value by physically manipulating blocks to represent units, tens, and hundreds. Through trading activities, Savannah and Daniel are learning to exchange smaller units for larger ones, reinforcing their understanding of how numbers are structured and related. This foundational skill enhances their mathematical fluency and prepares them for more complex arithmetic operations in the future.
