Dear Parents and Friends,
It was disappointing to cancel our Athletics Carnival this week, but with the unpredictable winter weather and safety concerns around the slippery track, it was the right decision. Our students' wellbeing is always our priority. The good news is that we have secured a new date: Tuesday 1st July, and we look forward to a great day of fun, participation, and house spirit then!
On Friday 6 June, staff from St Brigid’s and St Louis came together for a Professional Learning Day focusing on Religious Education and staff wellbeing. We were privileged to spend the day with Fr Rob Galea, who led us through meaningful reflections using storytelling and music.
His message about taking time to care for ourselves and each other really resonated. Despite claiming to be an introvert, Fr Rob had us completely captivated throughout the day. A big thank you to St Louis for hosting us and to Jodie and Marylene for organising such a valuable experience.
What a night! Our Foundation to Year 4 students enjoyed a magical evening at the Winter Wonderland Disco on Thursday 5 June. The hall was alive with colour, music, and lots of dancing! A huge thank you to our amazing Year 1/2 parent reps who helped organise the night — from providing snacks, setting up decorations, creating a quiet space, and showing off some great dance moves! Your effort made the evening one to remember.
Next week we welcome families to attend Student-Led Conferences. These sessions are a great way for students to take pride in their learning and share their achievements with you.
If you haven’t booked your time yet, please do so as soon as possible.
Our Student Led Conferences will be held face to face, on Wednesday 25th June 2:00pm to 7:30pm and Thursday 26 June 3:30pm to 6:00pm. CLICK HERE to make a booking. Booking Code is ycu9y. Both parent and child are invited to attend our Student Led Conference. Bookings close at 2:00pm on Tuesday 24th June.
PLEASE NOTE: School will finish at 1:30pm on Wednesday 25th of June to accomodate our Student Led Conferences. TheirCare will be open from 1:30pm.
We have officially started our Kinder visits with Mordi Preschool. On Wednesday afternoon, our Year 5 students warmly welcomed the Kinder children and guided them through activities including PMP and BeeBots.
These early connections are so important for helping our 2026 Foundation students feel familiar and confident in our school environment.
We’re excited for our upcoming whole school excursion to Werribee Zoo on Thursday 3 July. Each class will take part in an educational workshop and enjoy a safari bus tour of the open plains. We know it will be a highlight of the term!
Parents are very welcome to join us at the zoo. Please note that families will need to cover the cost of their own entry and the safari ride (if spaces are available).
Just a reminder that we do not allow bikes or scooters to be riden in the school yard at drop off and pick up. This is an OH&S issue as there are a lot of children and parents who are in the yard and we do not want anyone to get hurt. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.
We ask that you please be mindful where you are parking. We had a rather angry and distressed neighbour ring us on Friday to complain that a car was parked over her driveway. She needed to urgently leave her house and was unable to do so. I understand it is very hard to find carparks at the moment but we cannot park illegally.
We also ask that parent do not pull into the staff carpark to drop children off. Car's reversing in and out of the staff car park are dangerous and there is a lot of pedestrian traffic.
Don’t forget to save the date for our upcoming Parent Trivia Night. It promises to be a fun-filled evening and a great opportunity to connect with other parents. More details will be shared soon — we’d love to see you there!
Next week is our Feast of the Sacred Heart St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. We are working in conjunction with the Mordialloc Chapter of St Vinnies, and they have informed us that their shelves are running very low.
They are in desperate need of grocery items:
pasta, pasta sauce
canned goods, fruit, tuna and baked beans
toiletries.
All donations will be greatly appreciated. (Please check the use-by dates.) Donations can be dropped into the Office.
We will be holding a ‘Casual Clothes’ day on Thursday, 26th June. All children who bring a donation to school can wear casual clothes.
We look forward to joing our 5/6 students and their families at St Brigid's Church next Tuesday, 24 June at 7pm for our Spirit Filled Faith Night. We will be joined by Roseanne Roafaeel - Founder and CEO of Christmas on the Streets.
Congratulations to Christina H who made the Victorian School's Soccer Team and to Charlotte de Jong who made the Victorian School's Touch Football team. Both Charlotte and Christina will be participating in the School Sport Australia Championships. We wish them both the very best of luck.
We were so excited to hear the news that Oliver (FE) is now a BIG brother. Congratulations to Shelby, Albert and Oliver on the safe arrival of gorgeous little baby Jensen on the 7th of June.
Staff will be undertaking professional development at School on Friday 4 of July. TheirCare will be open and bookings can now be made.
Have a wonderful week. Keep warm!
With thanks
