Auslan

Practice Makes Perfect!
Our students are continuing to excel in their Auslan finger spelling competitions. We've seen tremendous growth, and we encourage all families to practice fingerspelling at home to support your child’s learning. Consistent practice is key to building fluency and confidence.
Here’s a snapshot of what our students have been focusing on:
- Years 5 and 6 students have been learning about the history of the first Australian Catholic Deaf school, understanding its significance in the Deaf community.
- Prep to Year 4 students have been developing their conversational skills by learning to formulate questions related to farm animals. For example, they’ve been practicing signs for questions like ‘Do you like [sheep]?’ or ‘how many [horses] do you need?’ This theme-based learning helps them apply their Auslan skills in practical scenarios.
