Let's THRIVE in 2025

ATHLETIC TRAINING DAY TERM 3

On Tuesday 29th July,  we are having our annual Athletics Training/Trial Day at the Box Hill Athletics track in preparation for the Nth Balwyn District Athletics which will be held on Wednesday 3rd September.

This day is for our Grade 3-6 students.

The children will travel to and from the Box Hill Athletics Track by bus, leaving school at 8.50am and returning to school by 12.10pm and have the opportunity to try out for both track and field events in their age groups 9/10 years,11years and 12/13years.

The athletes will need to bring a light snack, a water bottle (clearly named), and a rain jacket. Children should carry any necessary medication such as Ventolin with them when running.

We have been doing lots of track and field learning during P.E class.

INTER SCHOOL SPORT

The girls netball team had a great match and the OLPS team welcomed us very well. The score was 1-18 so even though we lost, everyone still had a great time playing and we thought everyone did very well even though the other team was tough. Everyone was flexible in their positions and lots of people were brave enough to try positions that they’ve never played and in the end they were great at the position. Our MVP’s were Chloe because she was very flexible in changing positions and Audrey because she was a very good sportsmanship to the whole team. Before the first quarter we did some drills to warm up and everyone had lots of fun.

This week, in soccer the year 5/6’s played Our Lady’s for Interschool Sports. It was a challenging match as Our Lady’s had fewer players, so we kindly agreed to give them one of our players each half. We were lucky to have some brilliant young leaders that volunteered to play for the other team (Anna H and Ned K).

For the first half we scored 8 goals with Our Lady’s unlikely scoring none, as the game progressed in the second half, we scored 4 extra goals, completing a score of OHR with 12 goals, and Our Lady’s with 0 goals. We were lucky to have every single player score a goal or more (including some that should've counted). Our MVP’s for this week were Ariel M as she tried her best to score a goal and displayed good sportsmanship while being a good friend. Our other MVP’s were Ned K and Anna H as they played a tough game while they both participated and played amazingly, they had great leadership to volunteer to play for the opposing team. It was a fantastic game filled with teamwork and fun, and we’re proud to say we’ve won every single inter school soccer match this season! The soccer captains the teachers chose for interschool sports this week were Mia C and Gabby W. They all played phenomenally with courage, good sportsmanship and leadership.

Today we played OLPS in Mixed Netball. The scores were 15-6(OHR won).

Our MVPs for this game were Cynthia, for her brilliant defence and encouragement on the court.

Oliver M, for giving netball ago and playing a really positive match.

And Chloe O-L because she was always positive wherever she was put and was always happy about it.

We think our team represented OHR  really well and we are all so excited to play our next game.
